At Moicha we care about your health so we only source high quality JAS organic and pesticide-free matcha which are safe to consume every day.

Sourcing

All our tea is shade grown for at least 30 days on Japanese tea estates. Reducing sunlight allows the plant to concentrate its nutrients to the leaves. A regions climate, soil quality and altitude all contribute to a unique taste.

Our Farms

For our organic superior and premium grades we source from farms in Uji Kyoto region. Our Latte grade is pesticide free and sourced from an eco farm in Shizuoka which uses sustainable energy though solar panels to shade the leaves and power the estate.

Freshness

Once the leaves are harvested they are steamed, dried and deveined before being placed in air tight containers for storage. For freshness the leaves are then taken from the containers to be ground into powder when needed. Stone mills grind 40g of matcha per hour.

Quality Control

In house laboratories monitor matcha particles from production for consistency which is usually around 10 microns. This ensures the matcha texture is smooth to the taste when whisked. Samples are also sent to external testing companies for health and safety certification.
